TEMPORARY CROWN

The temporary crown is designed to protect your underlying tooth structure while the permanent crown is being fabricated in the lab. The type of cement that holds this crown in place is very weak. Therefore, you have to follow the instructions below to prevent the temporary crown from dislodging.

Home Care Instructions:

  • Proper brushing is a must.
  • When flossing, push floss through the contact, then pull floss out from the side. Do NOT pull back through the contact, it will dislodge.
  • Avoid chewing gum, hard candy, or sticky food consumption at all until you receive your permanent crown
  • If the temporary crown falls off, please place it in a clean Zip-lock bag, call us immediately, and return for recementation.

TEETH WHITENING

After bleaching, the next 24-48 hours are important in enhancing and maximizing your whitening results for a long lasting, bright and healthy smile.

For the next 48 hours, dark staining substances should be avoided, such as:

  • Coffee, tea, and soda
  • Tobacco products
  • Red wine
  • Red or dark sauces
  • Bright colored lipstick

You can expect slight sensitivity and/or gum irritation after a bleaching session. The conditions can be minimized by:

  • Reducing bleaching time
  • Discontinuing application for a few days
  • Post-bleaching application of a fluoride gel

Gently bite on gauze sponges for 30 minutes after the surgery to encourange the bleeding to clot. Replace with fresh gauze for another 30 minutes if fresh, red blood is present. If bleeding continues after this, bite on a teabag for 30 minutes. If you have any concerns about bleeding, please contact our office.
